Yuck 'n Yum

This image is featured in Yuck 'n Yums Summer edition! You can go read the zine here
It's made by saturating the paper with linseed oil and sort of smudging a soft pencil over it. The oil really increases the different  kinds of marks you can make with the graphite, soft and smokey or crumbly and jagged. In this way I really feel like I am tracing the shapes of my memories of this familiar and beloved hill and showing the overlayed image of it in my mind that encompasses time and viewpoints.
" It is the attitude towards the land, the artist's sensitivity towards the place that determines the effect of the imagery" Lucy Lippard
