It's made by saturating the paper with linseed oil and sort of smudging a soft pencil over it. The oil really increases the different kinds of marks you can make with the graphite, soft and smokey or crumbly and jagged. In this way I really feel like I am tracing the shapes of my memories of this familiar and beloved hill and showing the overlayed image of it in my mind that encompasses time and viewpoints.
