Finished setting up my studio for assessments on Saturday.
Yes! I really enjoyed this semester, my work seems to be shaping up and
maturing nicely. The series looks great up on the wall and this presentation strengthens
the intention that they are individual parts of a whole painting. This series
is a representation in paint of a group of memories and feelings pertaining to
my walks in the hills and a childhood in the countryside.
Here's a wee shot of whats in the studio at the moment... printmaking!! I'm making lino cuts of hills that I've climbed, Creag Meagaidh at the top and the left and Goat Fell on the isle of Arran on the right. I've chosen this process to reference the way most of them were shaped by glaciers at the end of the ice age. This post wouldn't be complete if I didn't take a moment to draw your attention to the beautiful shelf you see before you. Look at that perfection! The ideal support for these magnificent hills.
Hello! Welcome to my wee blog. You can expect to see documentation of my artistic practise, my wanderings and things that make me smile. I have a shiny new studio for final year and am happily making a series of abstract landscapes.
